Piercing Through

Go ye therefore… Matt 28:18

The bible word GO comes from the root word peiro in Greek that gives the idea of piercing through. When the Lord Jesus gives the instruction to go ye therefore, it was not merely a suggestion but a serious command that He expected His people to follow. The goal is not only to go but also to pierce through, to make headway, to open up a pathway. We are to pierce ye therefore, ALL NATIONS. Is it possible that God calls us ALL to be missionaries, overseas? GOD did not instruct a vocation, but he gave us an OCCUPATION, that of telling people the gospel of Jesus Christ, and as we are going, we are to pierce through and tell the word of life.

Notice we are to pierce our families with the gospel of truth: “Joh 1:41 He first findeth his own brother Simon” When Andrew found the Saviour, the first man he went to was his own brother. Are our families pierced through with the gospel of Christ? Is the atmosphere and family situation filled with the aroma and fragrance of bible living, and gospel truths? Do the people who live with us, see, feel, hear and experience the reality of the gospel in our lives? We need the gospel to pierce through our families.

Notice also we are to pierce our surroundings with the gospel of truth : “Joh 4:28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,” The Samaritan woman with faith in her heart goes to the city which shunned her and openly proclaimed that the Messiah was Jesus. She pierced the surroundings with the gospel. The men came to hear and besought Jesus to stay longer. The Samaritans, many of them, received Jesus as their saviour for it is written: Joh 4:39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him … Joh 4:41 And many more believed because of his own word; The woman though defiled and degraded in the eyes of society was exalted as a servant of the Most High because she went despising the shame and the ridicule for the sake of Christ. She pierced her surroundings with the gospel.

Notice in this verse, we are to pierce ALL NATIONS . The gospel of Jesus Christ is for the world and those who would serve HIm in reaching the lost, we must support. Christian, we must not only pierce the areas near to us, we must have a heart for world missions, and we must be willing to go, unless God stops us.

Are we piercing our families, our neighbourhoods and the world for the gospel of Christ? We can give, we can groan in prayer and we can go for the Lord. To the streets across, to the next estate, to the regions beyond for the Lord. Will you go?
