John 6:67 … Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
The Lord Jesus has preached a mighty message that HE is the Bread of Life. Whoever wants to live must come through Him. There is no other way, there is no other message and there is no other bridge to Heaven and to the true GOd of this Universe. Many cannot tolerate this message, many will not welcome this news. The bible records sadly that “From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.” John 6:66. Many who heard the word decided to walk away. Notice the Lord’s concern: He was concerned for the multitudes: HE WAS MORE CONCERNED FOR THOSE WHO PROFESS CHRIST. He asked a searching question: WILL YE ALSO GO AWAY?
1. This question was asked to the twelve: “Jesus unto the twelve”. These twelve were the ones who have followed Him, who have seen His miracle of the 5000 fed and has seen Him heal. What we see does not create faith but the what we hear. For many saw the miracles . but when they heard the message, they left, the message heard not being mixed with faith. You who are Christians, have you heard the message, will ye also go away like some will? Truth divides: no one who have heard the word of the Lord can remain neutral.
2. This question was asked because the message demands a response: many choose to remain neutral or the proverbial Singaporean phrase “ I’ll see first”. Is it not sad that the Saviour of this world, the One who would give all for the eternal lives of our souls, the One who has shown that He is the Light of this World, the Resurrection from the dead and the Way , the Truth and the Life, should receive such cool response? Isa 55:11 says that His word shall not return unto Christ void. It demands a response: a blessing if we would obey, and a curse, if we will not.
3. This question asked need to be answered, in the light of our Missions’ conference: there are those who are struggle to go soulwinning on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; there are those who struggle to give to the Lord for Missions; there are those whose self-pleasure and convenience and personal ambitions, prevent them from obeying the Lord in the Great Commission, in helping the servants of the Lord. Yet, the Lord still asks: whom shall we send, and who will go for us?
As we close our first Missions’ conference, Christian, will ye who have heard the message, also go away, and not heed what the Lord wants you to do to help the cause of saving the lost? Will you not begin praying for the lost? Will you not begin to pray for our Missionaries? Will you give the pledge and be faithful to it? Will you not be faithful in going tracting and soulwinning? Will you not faithfully support the Lord’s work in edifying, encouraging Christians by doing the work of soulwinning and discipleship? Will you not help people to the Saviour? Will you not prepare to go to the Mission field, by your total personal surrender, saying: Not My Will, but Thine, be done? Will you decide for the Lord and say: Here am I , send me?
