The Counsel of GOD

Rev 3:2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.

The assembly of God’s church faces a daunting task to remain pure in these last days, where spiritual compromise and practical disobedience in christians and christendom alike runs rampant. Many christians are not living the way the Lord wants them to live. Many deny the bible by living against it. They come to church but their hearts are on their careers, their children and their comforts and conveniences, and not on the Christ of their souls. Is that the condition of your life and soul? Is your church membership and your life with Christ on a low priority? Listen then to the counsel of your dear Saviour and Lord.

Be watchful: We are careless in our attentiveness over our spiritual lives, leading to our neglect of it. We neglect to pray, to read the word, to grow and to learn. We neglect the attendance at GOD’s house, the love for each other and the service of GOD in the local church. We neglect to share the word, to reach the lost and to edify one another.
We are so caught up in the affairs of this world that we are entangled therein. GOD tells us to be watchful. What areas are you neglecting?
Be attentive to it, be careful over it, and be watchful.

Strengthen the things that remain, that are ready to die: As you watch, GOD counsels you to fortify, to reinforce or to add life to the things that remain. Like a flower drooping, or a plant that is withering, and yet there is life if the owner would water it and dung it, the life may yet be restored. So the Lord counsels us to strengthen the things that remain. Your attendance at church has been inconsistent: GOd counsels you to make it consistent. Your giving has been calculative:
the Lord says be cheerful when you give. You tell people about Christ only when it is convenient: GOD tells us to be faithful and regular in our tracting and soulwinning. You pray occasionally: GOD tells you to pray regularly. You read your bibles once a week: the Lord tells you to search the Scriptures daily. You love and choose your friends: you only love those who love you: God tells you to love ALL men with His love. God counsels us to strengthen the things that are remaining.
What areas of your spiritual life is fledging and dying? You say that I cannot speak and therefore I cannot do soulwinning: the Lord tells us ALL to go and tell someone about Jesus. You say that you have little time for GOD: GOD says to seek ye first the Kingdom of GOD and His righteousness. Christians, God insightfulness says that these things if not strengthened, are on their way to death, spiritual death.

For I have not found thy works perfect before God: A fearful conclusion by GOD. Our works are not perfect. It is not matured, and it is not maturing. It is dying. To the church at Sardis, God has one commendation and encouragement: to those who are still standing firm for the Lord, keep on keeping on, for our faith in Christ will be rewarded.

No Christian alive can ever say that we are perfect before the Lord. But are you being watchful over your christian life? Are you strengthening the things that are remaining or are you allowing it to die? Listen, Christian to the counsel of your GOD: for one day you must answer to Him.
