Our Stability in Christ
Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, Romans 16:25 Paul, in closing the Epistle of the Romans, exalts the Lord Jesus Christ, and writes confidently of the assurance the believers have in Christ Jesus. It is a great encouraging truth for all believers that we need to give thanks and praise to the Lord God of Heaven and our Saviour in all our lives for His gracious workings and plans in our lives. Paul exhorts and teaches the stability of believers and the…

What Genuine Faith Produces
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Romans 15:13 Our God is a God of hope: He gives hope, inspires hope, and in Him, we possess the hope of eternal life, and eternal joy. Hope in the Bible is always 100% sure, unlike the promises of man. Therefore, we are assured of our hope. Paul asks the Lord of this hope to fill the Christians in Rome with joy and peace in believing. Genuine faith produces hope. Paul prays that this faith in them will produce joy. In trials and…

Vengeance is Mine
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Romans 12:19 When a believer chooses to live for God, opposition will come; hurts, insult and persecution were the norm in the early church. We can get angry, discouraged and hurt, and, at times, tempted to retaliate. Paul was admonishing the Roman Christians to respond righteously when they felt the desire to respond with anger and vengeance. Paul’s admonishment was threefold. To resist the temptation to avenge ourselves. It is never the spirit of the Lord Jesus to retaliate or fight back because that is what…

The Paradox to a Fruitful Life
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. Matthew 16:25 We are people aiming constantly at self-preservation. It is a priority for us to ensure that our hopes are not dashed, our dreams are preserved and our future is secured. This thinking and innate human tendency gives rise to a series of actions or plans that ensure that what we want is protected. We will therefore remain in our “comfort zone”, protective of our lifestyles and opposing anyone that would challenge our security. This is what the Lord Jesus meant when He said, “…whosoever will save his…
